I was going to translate more of the interviews from their ARASHI IS ALIVE! photobook, but this caught my eye and... yeah, I couldn't help myself. :( What can I say? Soft spot and all. 2/Arashi is a new serial column that's started up in Non-no-- kinda similar to Gekkan Arashi in that there will be two members doing a cross-talk for each issue, though presumably it'll end once they get through all the possible combinations?

2/Arashi vol. 01 - "Ai no Arashi"

Aiba Masaki x Ninomiya Kazunari


A relay series where two members of Arashi will talk about a certain theme in each issue. In this commemorative first round, the huge confession of "love" towards Arashi!?

As expected for the first round, we would like to check out Arashi's great allure, and that is their closeness with one another! Thus, we've invited Aiba-kun, reportedly the most emotional out of all the members, and Ninomiya-kun, who has been acknowledged to like Arashi by others, to come talk about their love towards the other members. ♥


Because they're stupid and normal, that's why we love Arashi. Putting it that way... is gross (laugh)?


Aiba: It seems like the two of us were chosen to do the commemorative first round.
Nino: Well, isn't that only natural (laugh)? Then, the topic is...... 'Love'!? Saying that, isn't that kind of gross!? Let's discuss a battle plan a bit.
Aiba: If we go too far right from the first round, the readers might get mad and not want to read anymore, won't they?
Nino: That is true. (thinks for a moment) But I think that it might be surprisingly OK to dive right into the topic too.
Aiba: Seriously!? Then, shall we head in that direction (laugh)? (and so, sits up properly) Let's see... first is me and Nino. We became close right from the beginning when we first started taking on activities as Juniors. Even in Arashi, we've been together for an especially long time, haven't we?
Nino: Because we live in the same direction, we always took the same train home together. And because of that, even now we still say naturally to each other after work, "Let's eat before we head home?" really easily like that.
Aiba: The time that we've spent together might even be longer than the time spent with our families. Nino basically hasn't changed at all from before. In any case, you're very skilled and single-minded at what you're into. Though what you're addicted to now has changed from tamagotchis to magic.
Nino: My impression of Aiba-chan is...
Aiba: I think there are probably lots of good points about me, but please try to sum it up in one sentence (laugh).
Nino: Just the opposite of me, you give up easily after doing badly (laugh). Like snowboarding or diving or darts, you try out a lot of different things, but there are lots which you never keep at as well. You're really really bad at darts (snicker).
Aiba: Shut uuup (laugh). More so than control, I'm a man who wins by sheer power!
Nino: Well, that's also one of Aiba-chan's charms. Arashi's members all have their own surprising charms to them!
Aiba: Though MatsuJun seems like a sadist at first glance, he's actually very gentle. Because when I catch a cold, he'd pass me medicine that costs around 1000 yen for one pill without any hesitation. Though Sho-chan looks like the knowledgeable type, he's actually an idiot (laugh).
Nino: If you go to karaoke with him, there's usually a commotion caused, like you'll be complained about soon.
Aiba: You'd get hyped to the point where you need a towel because you've gotten all sweaty. Lastly, Leader is........ though he always looks very sleepy (laugh), he's a person who would be okay with no sleep if it's for something he likes!
Nino: It seems like he's been heading straight out after work to go fishing at night lately. ...........(looking at past photos) Nevertheless, Arashi really is a gathering of "normal people", isn't it. Always energetic and only thinking about the consequences after the fact, getting tired to the point of having 'abnormal mentalities'.
Aiba: Because our ability to pace our ourselves is zero (laugh).
Nino: Right right, even if it's that kind of stupidity and imperfection, I still like it! What about Aiba-chan?
Aiba: (with deep emotion) As for me... whenever we hold concerts, I would feel the presence of '5 people', and really think to myself that "it's great to be Arashi".
Nino: (without hesitation) If you can feel the presence of '5 people', why do you always stand in the wrong spot!?
Aiba: Eh, that's....... I'd think "Everyone's working hard so I must work hard too!", and then end up going overboard. But all of my actions are done out of love for Arashi (laugh)!

The next theme will be decided upon by Aiba-chan!

"(a bit impishly) Because I think the readers would be interested in this as well, the theme will be "karada" [T/N: Body]! I'd like them to talk about which parts of each others' bodies they like and which parts of girls' bodies they focus on."
